The festival is also a day of live music and dance. The renowned Sussex Jazz Kings lead the festival cavalcade through the streets at 10.30 am with Morris dancers and local school children accompanying the Watercress King and Queen atop a horse and cart, distributing the first of the season’s watercress harvest to festival goers.
On the main stage, Sussex Jazz Kings and Godalming Band will entertain you throughout the day. They will be joined by students from Perins who will showcase their forthcoming musical - Phantom of the Opera. Alresford Ukulele Jam will also be on stage and wandering the streets to entertain you.
In St. John's Church, relax and enjoy the singing and dancing of youngsters from Sun Hill Juniors plus singing by the Alresford Community Choir and everything from folk to punk - literally - by Southampton Ukulele Jam.
The Falconhigh Display Team will be in a field at the end of East Street opposite Long Barn to give flying demonstrations throughout the day - falconry is used by the watercress farms as the most effective and organic method of deterring smaller birds who find watercress as delicious as we do!
And of course, there are fantastic performances by Hook Eagle Morris, Basingclog Morris, Dorset Buttons Rapper plus the all-girl Mayflower Morris in town to entertain and delight you throughout the day!
