The Alresford Watercress Festival is a great family event. Not only do local school children perform throughout the day, but there are plenty of activities for children of all ages.
Juggling Jake returns by popular demand with his circus skills workshop and the renowned magician, Kaye of Kayemagic, will entertain and confound you.
New for 2010, we were excited to be able to bring the countryside to town when Kidsrome set up their children's mobile farm to entertain and educate young and old. The "farm on the mooove" is designed to help children develop an understanding of the animals and why they are farmed. This is a rare opportunity for children to get up close to a range of farm animals including a donkey, goats, sheep, rabbits and chickens and proved a huge success!
The Alresford & Cheriton Scout Group man a climbing wall to get older kids adrenalin pumping. Busy Bees and Natasha Rowley provide face painting, braiding hair and nail art outside the Bell Hotel and, as in previous years, John Leno has his "magic" roundabout at the top of Broad Street for younger visitors.
In another first for the festival in 2010, Lisa and Tony from Treasuretrails created a fun treasure trail around the festival. Following the clues allows you to see some of the best sights during a rare "traffic-free" day in the centre of Alresford. Great fun for pre-teens (and the rest of the family), you might even be a lucky winner in the prize draw open to those who successfully solve the mystery of the trail.
