Well, where do we start? The festival has several competitions to get everybody involved!
Food Awards.......an opportunity for the producers to shine
Food producers attending the festival are invited to enter their most innovative watercress recipe in the "Food Awards". Enjoy trying watercress beer, watercress sausages, watercress scones, watercress pesto... and see which one would win your vote!
The World Watercress Eating Championships
You are challenged to munch your way through two bags of fresh watercress and wash them down with a small bottle of Hildon water in the fastest time. Can you take the heat?
Eateries Awards..'Best Watercress Dish for under £10'..in eateries near you
In the four weeks leading up to the festival, many of the local restaurants, cafés and pubs will be serving diners with their own authentic, imaginative and tasty watercress-based dish for under £10. It could be a starter, main or even a dessert (yes, even a dessert!) using watercress as a major ingredient.
The public are encouraged to vote so please check back here to find out how you can help us decide the winner!
