Reduce - Reuse - Recycle

Please use our recycling bins.  Help us by placing your waste into the correct recycling bins. DO NOT use the towns own black bins, these are covered for a reason.

Please only use what you need - try to reuse your drinking cups.

Do bring a "Bag for Life" for all your purchases.

Please use public transport, cycle or car-share to help to reduce our carbon footprint.

Remember to bring a reusable water bottle. Town shops and cafes participate in the refill scheme.

All plastic straws are banned across all bars and traders.

All food traders’ packaging and cutlery will be predominantly compostable, including paper and cardboard cups, wooden cutlery and stirrers, and paper straws.

Whilst the individuals selling the helium balloons do have a hawkers licence.  They are not invited to the festival by the committee and we urge you to try and  resist the purchase of the helium balloons.

Biffa provide our bins and operate a recycling policy.  Key points below:

  • All food Biffa collect as a segregated fractions are taken to an anaerobic digestion plant where the waste is converted to fertilizer and the gases are used to generate electricity.
  • Biffa cannot take coffee cups as part of the food waste stream, however, they can recycle these as part of a new initiative.  Cups need to be liquid free and lids removed.
  • Biffa own Company Shop Group and now have a store in Southampton. Traders are encouraged to donate unused produce to this where possible.
